Install The Software

  1. Download and install JSE 1.5
    The installer can be found here
  2. Download and install Eclipse 3.2
    Detailed instructions for this step can be found here
  3. Download and install Apache Tomcat 5.5
    The binaries can be found here
  4. Install the Java EE and Web Tools with help of Eclipse's update manager
    Detailed instructions for this step can be found here
  5. Install the Eclipse IDE Integration from the ULC community using Eclipse's update manager
    Detailed instructions for this step can be found here in the How to install section

Configure Eclipse

  1. Configure JSE 1.5 as Java runtime inside Eclipse
    1. Select Window|Preferences... in the menu bar
    2. Select Java|Installed JREs in the tree on the left side of the Preferences dialog
    3. Click Add...
    4. Click Browse... and choose the home directory of your JSE 1.5 installation
    5. Click OK in the Add JRE dialog
    6. Click OK in the Preferences dialog
  2. Configure Apache Tomcat 5.5 as target runtime inside Eclipse
    1. Select Window|Preferences... in the menu bar
    2. Select Server|Installed Runtimes in the tree on the left side of the Preferences dialog
    3. Click Add
    4. Select Apache|Apache Tomcat v5.5 in the tree and click Next
    5. Click Browse... and choose the home directory of your Apache Tomcat 5.5 installation
    6. Choose your JSE 1.5 installation as JRE
    7. Click Finish in the New Server Runtime dialog
    8. Click OK in the Preferences dialog
  3. Configure your system's web browser inside Eclipse
    This is necessary as it is not possible to run (ULC) Applets inside Eclipse's embedded web browser.
    1. Select Window|Web Browser|Default system Web browser in the menu bar

Install ULC's Deployment License

  1. Copy <ULC_HOME>/license/ulc-deployment-key.jar to <TOMCAT_HOME>/common/endorsed
